Removing Skype for Business

Skype for Business cannot be removed using the control panel like other programs. Skype for Business is part of Microsoft Office, so it must be removed from the Office installation.

To remove Skype for Business:

  1. Open the Control Panel and search for your version of Microsoft Office in the search bar.
  2. Right-click Microsoft Office and select Change.
  3. Scroll through the installation options until you find Skype for Business or Lync (depending on the version of Microsoft Office).
  4. Click and make it Not Available.

Different versions of Office may still have various different removal or uninstall methods but the concept is the same. You have to remove the “Skype for Business” or “Lync” component.
