Welcome Students!

We wish a warm welcome to our freshman and returning students! We are excited that you are here and want to do everything we can to help you with your computing technology needs.

Windows work stations at Fitts Woolard Hall Lab

We have computer labs all over campus that allow you to see your engineering-specific software. Some of these computers are even in the DH Hill and Hunt libraries! Some of them are a little bit off the beaten path and may provide a quieter setting for individual work. Our computer labs can also be a place you are almost guaranteed to interact with other engineering students, which might be helpful if you are getting stuck on how to use special software like Matlab or Solidworks. Check out our webpages for the labs in Fitts-Woolard Hall, Engineering Building III, and 111 Lampe Dr. for more information!

Be sure to also check out our virtual computing lab (VCL) resources. We are constantly developing these technologies so that you can access the same software available in computer labs from the convenience of your residence hall, apartment, or in Talley Student Union. Try to run Solidworks from your Mac or Chromebook and let us know what you think! It may take a couple of minutes to get going, but it’s still a lot shorter time than walking to a lab if you’re in a hurry.

We have three service desk locations available to help support the technological needs of all engineering students regardless of their major, including first-year engineering students. These are available from 8 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday. You can also send us an email at eoshelp@ncsu.edu if you find that to be more convenient. The service desks are located in 111 Lampe on main campus along with two locations on Centennial Campus in Engineering Building I and Fitts-Woolard Hall.

We look forward to meeting you!
