User Agreement
Origin is made available to you through the College of Engineering's Origin license. The NC State College of Engineering is ordering the right for you to use Origin for academic-related purposes. Installation of Origin on a computer owned by a business other than NC State University is strictly prohibited. You are authorized to use Origin while you are enrolled in, or employed by, NC State. Your acceptance of this agreement indicates that you understand and will comply with the requirements of the Origin license: I understand that I will not give this download to anyone else nor install it on anyone else's computer for them. I understand that redistribution of this software is strictly prohibited and is a violation of the terms and conditions of the license agreement and the NC State University Computing Policy. I understand that I am licensed to use Origin for academic coursework, teaching, and research only, and will not use this software for commercial purposes. I will discontinue use of Origin, and will uninstall the software, when I leave NC State.

Installation information

Info you will need during installation is as follows:
  • Instructions for installing and configuring the software to use the NCSU license server are available here: Origin: Installation Instructions
  • A video walkthrough of the above instructions is located here: Origin 2018b Installation Instructions. Though they were initially for version 2018b, the instructions work for later versions of Origin as well.
  • If you are running Origin on campus, as long as you are connected to the campus network (wired or wireless), you do not need to do anything else. If you are┬árunning Origin from off campus, you will need to connect to the NCSU VPN before starting Origin; otherwise, you will get a license error and the program will not run.
