Description
aspenONE software enables process industry companies to optimize their engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain operations. As a result, AspenTech customers are better able to increase capacity, improve margins, reduce costs, become more energy efficient, and achieve operational excellence goals. AspenTech's University Program offers universities an integrated suite of products that allow professors to teach students how to optimize engineering.
Documentation + Support Restrictions
- The license includes the following components, which comprise the basic Aspen University Program:
- Aspen Plus
- Aspen HYSYS
- Aspen PIMS
- Asset Performance Management (APM) and aspenONE APC products
- If you plan to use Aspen in published research and/or presentations, there are additional requirements per our license agreement, including sending your presentation/paper to AspenTech before publication. Please contact ITECS (eoshelp@ncsu.edu) if this will affect you and we will assist.
- AspenTech will only accept direct support requests from Designated Representatives. Such requests must be made via these current designated representatives:

- Tony Baumann, ITECS Software Manager

General Notes
- aspenONE 12 is available via Amazon AppStream, specifically the "Engineering Standard Virtual Lab" image. Access is restricted to students and faculty in COE.
Click here to run Aspen v12 via Appstream. - aspenONE 12 is also available via legacy VCL, specifically the "Aspen Plus v12 (Legacy VCL)" image. Access is restricted to students enrolled in courses requiring Aspen.
- For CHE 225, 450, and 451, students can download and install Aspen on their personal computers. Please see the download info at the bottom of this page.
- The software can also be installed on other NCSU-owned computers. Contact the ITECS Service Desk for assistance.
User Agreement
Aspen is made available to you through the College of Engineering's Aspen license. Installation of Aspen on a computer owned by a business other than NC State University is strictly prohibited. You are authorized to use Aspen while you are enrolled in, or employed by, NC State.
Your acceptance of this agreement indicates that you understand and will comply with the requirements of the Aspen license:
I will not give this download to anyone else nor install it on anyone else's computer for them.
I understand that redistribution of this software is strictly prohibited and is a violation of the terms and conditions of the license agreement and the NC State University Computing Policy.
I understand that I am licensed to use Aspen for academic coursework and teaching, and will not use this software for commercial purposes or research.
I will discontinue use of Aspen, and will uninstall the software, when I leave NC State.
- Aspen is only available for Windows.
- Access to this download is restricted to:
- Students enrolled in CHE 225, 450, and/or 451
- Instructors and TAs for the above classes
- ITECS Service Desk staff
