Additional Usage Notes

If you have a Mac, or can’t run SAP2000 on your own computer for any reason, you can run SAP2000 via AVD (create a reservation and select the “CCEE-Lab” option).

General Notes

  • As of January 2024, CSI has changed the licensing method for SAP2000 for instructional use:
    • Previously, they offered a free SAP2000 Student Demo with limited functionality to institutions that purchase SAP2000 Ultimate for research purposes. This Student Demo was the version available on this page through version 23.
    • Under the new licensing method, they offer the fully functional SAP2000 Ultimate for instruction, at the same cost as a research license.
    • For the Fall 2024 semester, CSI has given NC State complimentary licenses to use. These licenses expire on 31 December 2024.
  • SAP2000 can also be access via VCL using either the "Eos-lab" or CCEE-Software" environments.
  • CCEE faculty are determining the path for licensing SAP2000 beyond that date. Updates will be posted here as they become available.

    User Agreement
    SAP2000 Ultimate (for instructional use) is made available to you through the College of Engineering's SAP2000 Ultimate license. The NC State College of Engineering is ordering the right for you to use SAP2000 Ultimate (for instructional use) for academic-related purposes. Installation of this software on a computer owned by a business other than NC State University is strictly prohibited. You are authorized to use SAP2000 Ultimate (for instructional use) while you are enrolled in, or employed by, NC State. Your acceptance of this agreement indicates that you understand and will comply with the requirements of the SAP2000 Ultimate license: I will not give this download to anyone else nor install it on anyone else's computer for them. I understand that redistribution of this software is strictly prohibited and is a violation of the terms and conditions of the license agreement and the NC State University Computing Policy. I understand that I am licensed to use this software for academic coursework and teaching only, and will not use this software for commercial purposes. I will discontinue use of SAP2000 Ultimate (for instructional use), and will uninstall the software, when I leave NC State.
