Device Support

Engineering IT provides comprehensive device support for students, faculty and staff, ensuring seamless technology access and assistance for all your academic and professional needs.

Students

Engineering IT will help you install engineering software on your personal devices—laptops, desktops and mobile devices. We install and maintain all the machines in the Computer Labs. During regular business hours, we can help you use our large-format printers. If you need help connecting your personal device to the University’s wifi, visit one of our service desks. We can also extend you a short term laptop loan for up to 14 days.

Faculty & Staff

IT support for faculty & staff in the College of Engineering is decentralized. Engineering IT supports all units of the Dean’s administration and the following departments:

  • Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
  • Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Services for university-owned devices include:

  • Computer purchase through the UNC system Combined Purchasing Initiative
  • Computer and printer setup—including software installation, updates and maintenance
  • Device registration for wired and wireless campus connections
  • Desktop support and troubleshooting for Windows, Mac and Linux
  • Secure data deletion and equipment surplus

Conference Rooms

We provide evaluation, purchase guidance and basic configuration support for Dean’s administration and supported department spaces.

Labs

We equip and maintain computer labs for general student use. We also outfit classrooms with computer systems for the purpose of teaching.

Billboards

Billboard is used as the central management system for displaying signage on computer kiosks and web-enabled digital signs across campus. We procure and install the hardware for the Dean’s administration and supported departments to use this service.
